Role

Matthew Arnold School is a thriving and inclusive school on the outskirts of Oxford seeking to appoint a Teacher of Science from 01 January 2027 to cover paternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for either an Early Career Teacher or an experienced practitioner looking to further develop their career. We teach Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology, with consistently strong GCSE outcomes and successful A Level courses. Role

You will teach Science across Key Stages 3 to 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that enable all students to achieve their full potential. You will also take responsibility for a tutor group and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Key responsibilities include:

• Teaching Science across a range of ages and abilities, including GCSE and A Level.
• Planning and delivering high-quality lessons that inspire and challenge students.
• Monitoring, assessing and supporting student progress.
• Contributing to the development of departmental schemes of work and teaching resources.
• Supporting enrichment activities and initiatives that promote Science within and beyond the classroom.
• Promoting high standards of behaviour, achievement and student welfare.

Requirements

• Degree in a Science with Qualified Teacher Status.
• Experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting, including teaching placements.
• Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the Science curriculum.
• Ability to inspire, engage and effectively support students of all abilities while delivering excellent outcomes.
• A collaborative approach, commitment to professional development, and genuine enthusiasm for Science education.
